Doctor

  • Laurence Wahl , D.V.M.


    Dr. Wahl is a native of Southern California.  He received his Bachelors of Arts in Zoology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1977.  His Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine is from the University of California, Davis in 1982.  His post doctoral training in small animal medicine and surgery was completed at the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.  Dr. Wahl worked in several private practices and emergency animal clinics prior to opening Laguna Grove Veterinary Hospital in 1987.  He is owned by a Golden Retriever, Bamboo, a blue and gold Macaw, Cosmo, an Abyssinian cat, Tobouli,  and  an aviary full of Australian parrots and finches. Dr. Wahl is also part owner of a veterinary hospital in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.   His hobbies include scuba diving, golf, and raising tilandsias, bromeliads and orchids.

  • Karen Wichert , D.V.M.


    Dr. Karen Wichert moved to Orange County from Portland, Oregon in 1999. She is a native of Washington State.  In 1989 she graduated from Washington State University where she received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees.  Following graduation she worked in the Portland metro area, in several private practices for the next 10 years.  After relocating to Orange County, she joined Laguna Grove Veterinary Hospital in January 2000.  Her hobbies include biking, skiing and hiking.

Management

  • Sonjia Frericks , B.A.


    Sonjia Frericks has been working at Laguna Grove Vet Hospital since 1993 where she started as a Technician/Receptionist.  She soon became hospital manager and is currently the administrative assistant.  Sonjia works on payroll, accounts receivable and payable, computer supervisor and trainer.  She recently completed her Bachelors of Arts in psychology at the University of Southern California.  Sonjia is now pursuing graduate studies.  She is owned by a Rodesian Ridgeback, Scout.  In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach with her dog.

Technician

  • Lindsay Rhines


    Lindsay was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from Saddleback College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Environmental Studies and started working at Laguna Grove in January 2008. She currently lives in Laguna Niguel with her cat Duegis. In her spare time Lindsay enjoys online gaming and spending time with loved ones.Vetsuite_Img_53030

  • Rachel Greyson


    Rachel resides in Aliso Viejo with her french bulldog/pug mix Oscar, her cat Maddux, and her Uromastyx Benny. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2007 where she played varisty softball. She enjoys cooking, playing sports and spending time with her family, friends and pets.   • Jackie Loebig


    Jackie was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she recieved her B.S. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. She then relocated to Huntington Beach, Ca and completed the RVT program at Mount San Antonio College. Jackie began working for Laguna Grove in September 2008 and hopes to soon become a state liscenced verterinary technician.   • Myrchelle Edinger


    Myrchelle is Texas born and California raised. She has worked as a veterinary technician for two and a half years. She is owned by a rescued Staffordshire terrier named Pistol who she says is "the best dog in the world!". In her off time Myrchelle enjoys music, art, and spending time with her friends and family.   • Lindsey Thomas


    Lindsey was born and raised in Southern Orange County. She has been a veterinarian technician since 2006. She volunteers at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center working with seals & sea lions. She lives with her Chihuahua mix Mattie, Jack the Russell Terrier, Sparky and her three cats Oliver, Angel, and Elphaba. Grooming

  • Tracy Metzner


    Tracy started grooming in 1983 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.  She moved to California in 1985 and worked in multiple grooming facilities throughout Orange County.  Tracy also worked at a Schnauzer kennel for several years doing their grooming.  She also worked for 10 years as an office manager in a promotional prouduct manufacturer.  Tracy joined Laguna Grove Vet Hospital in January of 2000.  She maintains her special interest in all types of Terrier grooming, but does a wonderful job on all dogs and cats.  Tracy is owned by a pomeranian, Indy, and an African Grey Parrot, Big Bucks.  In her spare time she enjoys crafts, reading and playing with her animals.

Greeter

  • Coral


    Coral started working at Laguna Grove Veterinary Hospital in 2006 when she was only 4 months old. She gets along well with every client that comes in and is very comfortable around most dogs. Coral enjoys climbing, running, and hiding. She especially loves cardboard boxes. Coral takes cat naps throughout the day in order to keep her friendly and spirited demeanor. Her job duties include greeting all new clients and their pets and wearing festive costumes during the holidays. Vetsuite_Img_82072

Grief Counselor

  • Bamboo


    Bamboo was born and raised in Southern California. She comes to work with Dr. Wahl every day. She enjoys eatings treats, long walks, playing at the dog park and playing frisbee. Her job at Laguna Grove Veterinary Hospital include sympathizing with grieving clients, blood donor when needed, cleaning up after Cosmo, and providing general office cheer. Vetsuite_Img_82069

  • Cosmo


    Cosmo started working at Laguna Grove Veterinary Hospital when it first opened in 1987. He comes to work every day with Dr. Wahl. Cosmo enjoys people watching, making ambient sounds, foraging for his favorite seeds and nuts, and keeping himself well groomed.
